A TÍTULO DE PRESENTACIÓN

En la búsqueda efectuada en bibliotecas digitales de todo el mundo y en webs especializadas, se consiguen en muchas ocasiones libros e imágenes muy interesantes, y que quedan relegadas al olvido para la mayoría, bien por no conocer la manera de acceder a ellas o lo más frecuente porque ni siquiera se conoce su existencia.

Pretendo al respecto mostrar aquí algunas de esas obras e imágenes y remitir al lector a su fuente original para que caso de interesarle el tema, pueda ampliar sus conocimientos.

Todas las sugerencias y críticas constructivas serán bienvenidas, al igual que sus comentarios.

HISTORIA NATURAL DEL REINO ANIMAL

La obra “Natural history of the animal kingdom for the use of young people : in three parts, comprising I. Mammalia : II. Birds : Part III. Reptiles, amphibia, fishes, insects, worms, molluscs, zoophytes, &c.” (Historia natural del reino animal para uso de los jovenes: en tres partes: 1. Mamiferos : 2 Aves : 3. Reptiles, anfibios, peces, insectos, gusanos, moluscos, zoofitos..etc…), escrita por William Forsell Kirby (1844-1912) entomólogo inglés, e ilustrada con 91 láminas en color y más de 850 figuras en el cuerpo de las paginas por: Gotthilf Heinrich von Schubert (1780-1860) médico, botánico y naturalista alemán, y Edgar Alexander Mearns (1856-1916) notable naturalista y ornitólogo estadounidense, la encuentran en Biodiversity Library ENLACE o en Internet Archives ENLACE, utilizare esta última en una edición de 1889, para mostrarles algunas de sus laminas.

Les he dejado las láminas tal cual las he descargado salvo en algunos casos en que he retocado contraste o nitidez, como observaran, al pie tienen en ingles el nombre de cada animal representado en la misma.
